Company Overview
Founded in 1985, Pacific Architects, Inc. is a full service architectural firm that provides for both exterior and interior architecture. Within the realm of architecture, planning and interior design we have a capacity to furnish our clients with a wide range of services. Located in the heart of Honolulu, we have been successful in completing projects for the Department of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, as well as for the federal, state, and local government agencies, and for numerous private concerns.

Our People
Dwight K. Mitsunaga, AIA, Arch.D.
President/Principal Architect
Dwight Mitsunaga has a diverse background that includes general contracting, private development, and architecture. Through exposure in all three fields, he has been able to build on his experiences to produce creative, viable, and functional building designs. He received his Masters in Architecture in 1975 and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Southern California where he studied urban and regional planning, specializing in housing. From 1974 through 1975, he was actively involved in the State of Hawaii’s subsidized housing program. In 2000, while managing the day to day operating responsibilities of Pacific Architects, he received a Doctorate in Architecture from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His prior architectural experience includes: Job Captain-Architect at Gruen Associates in Los Angeles, California, and Vice President-Principal Architect at Mitsunaga & Associates, Inc. in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Clifford K. Murakami, AIA
Vice-President/Director of Technical Services
Clifford Murakami’s background and professional development has made him instrumental in the continuing operations of the firm. He is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the projects meet and/or exceed the rigorous quality control standards established by the firm and its clients. Through continuous involvement in the development of project specifications, he has established himself as a key figure in Hawaii’s community of specification writers. He has also been involved with reviewing current building code requirements with the Hawaii Society AIA and has been active in interpreting ADA requirements with the Commission on Persons with Disabilities.
